This normally means that dip switch #3 on the back of the E-30 is set to the Off position, which keeps it in the programming mode. Dip switch # 3 should be set to the On position for normal operation. If dip switch # 3 is set to On and the E-30 behaves that way (calls Viking), the dip switch is probably faulty.
